Keeping East Kootenay roads safe.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cranbrook, BC | April 22, 2016 – We are extremely pleased to be awarded the East Kootenay Highway and Bridge Maintenance Contract by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure for an additional seven year term effective September 23, 2016.

We have worked closely with our employees and members of the BCGEU, on a bid that will enable us to meet the new contract standards in East Kootenay,” said Peter Ashcroft, President and CEO, for the Mainroad Group.  “We’re confident that this new contract will enable us to build on our past experience in the region.”

The most notable changes to this contract are to winter maintenance standards.  Specifically,

  • winter aggregate size has been reduced from 12.5mm to 9.5mm
  • response time to clear snow has also been reducedTo enhance winter operations, Mainroad will be introducing new and improved highway maintenance equipment to the service area and rolling out a new anti-icing chemical program area wide.

On behalf of Mainroad’s East Kootenay Contracting team, I would like to thank the residents of Cranbrook and surrounding communities for their support and we look forward to serving the community over the new contract term,” stated Peter Ashcroft.
