Mainroad Group observing National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
On September 30th, all the Mainroad operating businesses in Alberta and British Columbia will observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (NDTR) as a statutory holiday. The NDTR has been established to honor First Nations, Inuit and Métis survivors, their families & communities, support public commemoration of their history, and ensure the legacy of residential schools remains a vital component of the reconciliation process.
“The decision to recognize NDTR across all Mainroad Group business operations aligns with one of our Mission statements; We are an ethical corporation that cares about the communities in which we live and work. Engagement with indigenous people has become extremely important in the work Mainroad performs not just as a highway maintenance contractor but in all aspects of our business. The day has not been declared a provincial statutory holiday in British Columbia or Alberta but as an employer of choice we strongly believe that we need to observe this important day as it reflects on our company values and sends a message of support to our indigenous stakeholders.” ~ Peter Ashcroft, President and CEO
