“Mainroad Contracting” was established in 1988 when the provincial government privatized road and bridge maintenance services in the province of British Columbia. Mainroad’s Finance Department is a highly collaborative team environment that supports 20 operating companies and corporate office departments throughout British Columbia and Alberta. The successful candidate will thrive in working in a dynamic, fast paced environment and have a strong ability to multitask and meet deadlines. There is never a dull day working at Mainroad!

Due to a heavy workload in the department, we are looking for additional help to assist the team. This is a full-time one-year contract starting November to early December. The Accountant will be based out of Mainroad’s head office in Cloverdale.

The successful candidate shall have the following qualifications:

  • Diploma in Accounting.
  • Enrolled in or actively pursuing CPA designation is preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years Accounts Payable experience and (2) year Accounts Receivable experience.
  • Full cycle experience and a strong understanding of intercompany and/or multiple cost divisions.
  • Job costing experience is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong learning agility and desire to grow with the company.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is imperative.
  • Proficiency with computer system including Microsoft Office software.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to work in a team setting and meet the demands of stakeholders, management, and employees.

Job duties and responsibilities include:

  • Daily banking transactions, reporting and reconciliations.
  • Reviews accounts payable and accounts receivable processing.
  • Preparation of month-end GL and sub-ledger account reconciliations.
  • Liaises with other departments and management as required.
  • Performs all other duties and projects as required.
