JUNIOR BID & PROJECT MANAGER | Mainroad Group

A newly created opportunity exists within the Mainroad Group for a self-motivated individual to join our team as a Junior Bid & Project Manager. This position will be responsible for assembling and leading the bid team to prepare and submit competitive bids for long-term highway infrastructure maintenance and civil contracting projects, while taking ownership of the end-to-end bid process. This position will report to the Director, Business of Development and will be based out of Cloverdale, B.C. head office.

The successful candidate shall have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of highway maintenance, construction project management or engineering experience.
  • Post-Secondary diploma or degree related to Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Engineering or related education.
  • 3 years of bid management experience preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Familiar with commercial and financial acumen.
  • Comfortable working to challenging submission timelines.
  • Experience with determining construction market and current trends, with ability to lead in determining bid strategies are preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and support a team environment, with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with well-developed negotiation skills.
  • Must be able to travel as needed.

Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage the end-to-end bid process, including administration of all records and documents.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the preparation and submission of proposals, including writing, editing and proofreading content.
  • Manage in person and virtual bid teams with subject matter experts to gather information and build compelling and accurate bid response.
  • Manage the bid budget and resources, including vendors, subcontractors and consultants.
  • Conduct research on the competition and market trends and provide recommendations on how to position the company to ensure winning themes are clear and compelling.
  • Provide direction, oversight, and support to estimator.
  • Prepare and review the commercial and technical aspects of bids, ensuring full scope of RFP is included in the final price proposal.
  • Plan, co-ordinate and deliver all Executive & Director bid review presentations required as part of the bid review process.
  • Assist in mobilization of successful contracts including delivery of bid-to-operations documents consisting of key strategies, risks and assumptions used in the bid.
