An exciting opportunity exists for a Quality Assistant with Mainroad Alberta Contracting LP (CMA 515 & 516) based out of our Ponoka office in Alberta. This position will report directly to the Quality Manager and is for a 12-month term with the opportunity to be extended.

Mainroad Alberta Contracting was awarded two highway maintenance contracts by the Government of Alberta Transportation in August 2019. The maintenance contract oversees 4,600 kilometres of provincial highways surrounding and within the counties of Lacombe, Ponoka, Red Deer and Wetaskiwin known as Alberta Transportation Contract Maintenance Areas 515 and 516. Mainroad Alberta Contracting has operations yards in Winfield, Ponoka, Red Deer and Innisfail.

The successful candidate shall have the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor Certificate preferred
  • Post Secondary Certificate or Diploma, or an equivalent combination of knowledge, skills and experience
  • Previous experience in a quality assurance role, preferably in highway maintenance, construction, or a closely related field
  • Field audit experience is required
  • Data entry, formatting and analysis experience is required
  • Ability to interpret written contracts
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and administrative skills
  • Learning agility and willing to continually learn and develop
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to meet stringent deadlines and multi-task
  • Strong attention to detail and work ethic
  • Ability to work both independently with little or no supervision and as a team player
  • Customer/client-focused
  • Ability and willingness to drive and work in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours and weekends as needed
  • Previous experience working in the construction industry is preferred

Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinates all aspects of the Company Quality Management Program under the direction of the Quality Manager
  • Monitors and reports on Company compliance to contractual obligations
  • Liaises with the Corporate Compliance Team
  • Conducts staff presentations and training
  • Performs field audits in all weather conditions
  • Performs data entry, formatting, and analysis
  • Prepares reports for Alberta Transportation
  • Conducts pre and post trip vehicle inspections
  • Conducts hazard assessments
  • Records meeting minutes
  • Performs electronic filing in a timely manner
  • Liaises with the Operations teams and other Departments
