HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT 

Due to rapid growth and expansion, we are seeking a highly motivated, dedicated and organized Human Resources Assistant to join the Mainroad team!

The Mainroad Group consists of over 19 companies of varying sizes including Operating Companies – Highway Maintenance, Construction, Electrical and Related Products. The successful candidate will assist the Mainroad Group HR Team with providing HR services, advice, support and direction to managers and employees.

In this dynamic role, you will have opportunities to touch on all things HR including:

  • Talent Acquisition – Recruitment services for Mainroad’s operating businesses (ie. hiring requests, posting/advertising job openings, resume screening, phone screening, interviewing, schedule interviews and participate in interview process as requested, reference/background checks, and job offer presentations).
  • Onboarding – Provides planning, coordination and support for HR onboarding of new employees, especially during mobilization phase for acquired companies.
  • HR Metrics – Prepare, update and track monthly HR Metrics.
  • Employee Relations – Provides day-to-day guidance to managers regarding employee relations matters including coaching and discipline.
  • Other Administrative Duties – Meeting minutes, writing disciplinary letters, updating employee handbooks, preparing presentations, assisting with employee engagement and event coordination and drafting related policies and procedures.

  • Employee Engagement
  • Policy Administration
  • Workforce Planning

What you have:

  • Post-secondary degree/ diploma in Human Resources Management;
  • Minimum 1-year experience working in a human resources capacity;
  • Exceptional computer skills in MS Office (ie. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, TEAMS);
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral;
  • Ability to maintain integrity of confidential information;
  • Strong learning agility and willingness to experience (and apply) new HR concepts, practices and processes;
  • Ability to multi-task and work on one or more projects at one time, prioritize tasks, and manage time wisely;
  • Working towards your designation of Chartered Professional in Human Resources (“CPHR”) is preferred.
