Mainroad Group announces appointment of New Chief Financial Officer

Mainroad Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Kumi Arumugam as Chief Financial Officer, effective January 1, 2020. Ms. Arumugam succeeded Mr. Doug Bjornson, following his retirement as Secretary/Treasurer, December 2019. Mr. Bjornson will remain in an advisory capacity with the company for an appropriate period to continue to mentor Ms. Arumugam in her new role.

Ms. Arumugam reports to Mainroad Group’s President & CEO, Peter Ashcroft. She oversees the company’s corporate governance, financial, insurance, and bonding requirements and currently serves as a Director on the Mainroad Board.

Ms. Arumugam has been with Mainroad since 2005. She most recently served as Director of Finance and held previous roles as Controller, and Assistant Controller for the Mainroad Group. She is a Corporate Finance Professional with specialized training from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada that focused on the fundamental skills of management and operations. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary and a Business Administration Diploma from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.

I am very excited about Kumi’s appointment,” noted Peter Ashcroft. “Kumi’s leadership skills, financial acumen and experience managing all financial functions at a fast growing, diversified, and employee-owned company is what Mainroad needs. Her strong people management skills and positive energy also make her an important addition to Mainroad’s leadership team replacing Doug Bjornson. I would like to thank Doug for his service as Secretary/Treasurer over the past 29 years with Mainroad. Over his tenure, he has seen the company grow from one B.C. highway maintenance contract to 17 operating businesses and over $228 million dollars in revenue. We thank Doug for all his hard work, dedication, commitment, and passion over the years and wish him all the best on his retirement.”
