Mainroad’s Winter Press Release, 2024

Winter is more than just snow— it’s also rain, wind, slush, ice, and fog.

Even when there isn’t snow in the forecast, winter tires are always the safest option during the cold months— and they especially are when roads are wet or snow-covered. Don’t wait until the last minute to put them on. Don’t get caught off guard.

Mainroad Contracting crews are out keeping the roads safe for you 24/7, but safety starts with you. Give yourself the best chance of a safe drive by installing winter tires, keeping an emergency kit in your car, and always driving to conditions. Drivers should maintain a following distance of at least four seconds between themself and the car ahead of them.

When you see Mainroad crews out on the road, give them extra space as you drive by. Highway maintenance is already an incredibly dangerous job, and the added risk of winter conditions means workers are vulnerable. Keep both our crews and yourself safe.

“Make sure your vehicle is prepared for all types of winter weather. Check all your fluids. Check your lights and brakes. Make sure you have an emergency kit in your car. You’ll thank yourself in the event that you need it. Our crews are out there to help you 24/7, but still give yourself the best chance of a safe drive.” — Stefan Yancey, General Manager, Mainroad Mid-Island Contracting

Please call the 24-hour hotline in your area if you see any issues on the highway.

Let’s all have a safe winter!
