One of the largest highway maintenance contractors in Western Canada is proud to announce today that Mainroad, has acquired Cobra Electric, a Surrey, B.C. based electrical contracting company specializing in the maintenance of traffic management and lighting systems throughout the B.C. Lower Mainland.

We are delighted to welcome Cobra Electric to the Mainroad Group.  We see many natural synergies forming between our two companies and this acquisition secures opportunities for business growth and sustainable jobs for our employees.  Together, we share the vision of being Canada’s highway maintenance and infrastructure services contractor of choice,” said Peter Ashcroft, President and CEO of the Mainroad Group.

The acquisition includes ownership of Cobra’s Group of Companies:

  • Cobra Electric South Coast now known as Cobra Electric Regional Services Ltd. serves the B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure in the maintenance of their electrical infrastructure in the Lower Mainland.
  • Cobra Electric now known as Cobra Electric Services Ltd. serves the public and private sectors in the maintenance of traffic management and lighting systems throughout the B.C. Lower Mainland.

With the Cobra Electric operations, the Mainroad Group now holds a formidable business footprint in the lighting and traffic control maintenance sector and can leverage a large resource and a wealth of expertise working alongside their other electrical businesses; Raylec Power on Vancouver Island, Raylec Power in Alberta, and Mainroad Transtronic Services in the Lower Mainland

Finally, I would like to thank Murray Berry, previous Owner and Founder of Cobra Electric, and all existing clients for working with us as we transition to the new Mainroad owned Cobra entity,” noted Ashcroft.
