Motorists and residents reminded to drive safe during summer road maintenance activities.
Summer brings increased traffic to our roads and highways. Mainroad reminds motorists and residents to be prepared for summer driving conditions and a rise in road construction and maintenance activities.
During the summer months, our crews conduct a number of maintenance activities throughout the service area such as pavement marking and patching, bridge deck repairs, sign cleaning and replacement, installation of raised pavement markers, culvert repairs, drainage control, mowing of vegetation, roadside fence repairs, and so on.
To minimize impact to the driving public, we try to schedule road maintenance activities during off peak traffic hours. Please check with DriveBC for any scheduled maintenance activities.
When approaching a road maintenance crew, please slow down and drive with extreme care. Please stay alert, minimize distractions and show respect for the person working at the side of the road. Every day thousands of workers in British Columbia are depending on drivers to keep control of their vehicle in a Cone Zone. Mainroad proudly supports the ConeZoneBC campaign.
One of Mainroadâs key strategic initiatives is public safety. Before heading out, prepare your vehicle and visit www.drivebc.ca for current road conditions and weather forecasts. Mainroad maintains a 24-hour hotline for reporting of accidents, unsafe road conditions and road kill. The call center is used to update DriveBC, dispatch additional personnel and record public communication as required.
Please report changing road conditions via our local service area 24 hour hotline.
Everything drivers need to know before going on a road trip
We all have family and friends using the roads we maintain and our crews are proud of the work they do to ensure that happens. This summer, please drive safe.
