Mainroad Contracting is responsible for the maintenance of bike pathways within Lower Mainland Provincial numbered highway right-of-ways and on Provincial bridges including those located in Surrey, Delta, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Burnaby, Richmond and the Stanley Park Causeway. Fall and winter weather conditions can create diverse riding conditions. Mainroad reminds cyclists to watch for leaf and vegetation debris and to be cautious when riding bike pathways situated under the shadows of trees which can be slippery in colder weather. Following a snowfall, Mainroad’s priority is to clear snow and widen shoulders on Provincial highways and bridges until normal driving conditions are met then snow and ice control will be addressed on service area bike paths. Cyclists are encouraged to report a road hazard or bike path concern to Mainroad’s 24 hour hotlines.
